Baptism

What a busy week!  This week was so hectic.  It was our first week of soccer practice.  On top of that, we had to get everything ready for the kid's baptism.  I can't believe how smoothly the baptism went.  The boys were so well behaved.  I was so afraid they were going to run, scream, and dodge the priest.  But they didn't.  Our friends really sacrificed to come.  Our friend, Alvin, flew in yesterday from NYC and left today.  He was here for 24 hours, just for the baptism.  Val, our other friend, pulled two doubles, left her job at 5:00 a.m. and drove to my house after work.  I guess I could see why she was drinking Red Bull when she got here.  What an important day it was.  I was kind of emotional.  Father Sean and Father Art used to be our priests in TorC.  Father Art married Erik and I.  It was a blessing to have them baptize our children.  They both directed the ceremony.

So, needless to say, I'm completely exhausted.  I have absolutely nothing ready for this week.  Not even at school...thanks to our lovely meeting about data.  Who knows what my husband will be wearing to work tomorrow.  I'm pretty sure khakis are not a good idea.  So, I should try to get at least one load of laundry done.

What a lovely, but busy weekend we had.   Good Night.

Up and Running Again

Here is a cute little birthday card I made.  The stamps are from Hero Arts and you can find a tutorial here.  The paper is Prism Cardstock.

So thank you to all that let me vent yesterday.  Sorry to be so depressing.

We have one week left until the boys get baptised...all of them....at once.  I'm beginning to dread the occasion.  This could be the biggest fiasco of all time.  The priests at church are the same ones that married Erik and I.  They want to dunk all the kids in the pool.  They said, "Bring their bathing suits."  I've been trying to prepare them since September, however, I did not expect full body submersion.  I'm off...still have lots of stuff to do to get prepared for tomorrow.  We start soccer practice tomorrow.  Ugh.  I mean Yeah!

Ramblings

There is no picture today.  There really is nothing.  I'm going to use today's post as a way to vent.  These last weeks have been sad and depressing.  I have known 3 people that have died this month.  Damn it, it's getting to me.  One right after the other.  I pray for their souls and for their families.  I wish there was something to do to help.  But in all reality, there is nothing I can do.  And I'm sorry for this depressing post.  But, I know that those of you who have subscribed to this or follow this really care, and I appreciate you for that.  So...I'm sorry for not having posted projects this month.  I know that my husband being out of town is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.  But it is to me.  He makes me happy.  And without him I feel so empty.  Today, I finished a lot of projects.  I've not felt true happiness until he came  home yesterday.  It's so sappy and pathetic...but true.  So, I ask you all tonight to be thankful for what you have and what you love.  I wish the greatest things for you all.  And tomorrow...I hope to be back to my regular chipper self.  Good Night, and God bless you all.
Please remember in your prayers...Monica Olivas, Torrie Woods, and Margo Rixey.

Technique Week-Distress Inks

Okay, ladies.  This week I wanted to share a technique with you.  I wanted to show you how to use Distress Inks.  They are one of my most favorite products ever!  I use them all the time on layouts and cards.  Here are the supplies you will need along with some of my favorite colors.

Instead of showing you how to use them, I'm going to let Jennifer McGuire do it.  She is the expert.  So, why reinvent the wheel.  Here is the link for the video.  I know this is a little cheaterish, but I'm squeezed for time this week.  I'm by myself again, and I have lots of projects to finish up.  So, I hope you learn something interesting.  These products are really and truly products I use ALL the time.  Here's the link to my website, where you can find more Ranger Products.
Ladies, I really appreciate all of you.  Have a good evening, and a good week, if I don't get to post again this week.

No Subject

Well, this will be a random post with no project to show you.  I didn't really do any scrap related stuff, unless you count putting stuff away.  Today, will be my "work" day.  I have tons of projects to do and get done.  I actually have deadlines.  So anyhow.  On my list is:
1.  Haircuts for the boys.  Their heads look like mops.  I can't stand to look at their heads.
2.  Finish up the laundry.  I only have three or four loads to go.  I hate laundry.
3.  Clean up the house.
4.  Finish 1 album, 2-5 cards, and 3 layouts.
5.  Call people and make deliveries.
I guess that's all.  But, I'll probably think of more.
On a funny and unrelated note.  On Saturday, we rode bikes.  Erik aired up the tires on my bike.  The one I haven't been on in about 15 years.  After 15 years, I think  your justified to have a little bit of fear that you might crash and break your head into 5 pieces.  Well, anyhow, the boys took it to mean that I didn't know how to ride a bike.  So, Wolfie was giving me all these pointers about how to get on your bike.  He told me, "Put your pedal up.  Move a little bit, and get on like this.  See?"  He rode down the street.  I got on my bike to follow him.  I caught up to him and he yells with a big smile, "Look, Mom,  you're doing it!"  It was so funny and cute.  As I continued to ride down the street, Maddie also gave me a few pointers.  Like how to stop by pushing your petals back.  Advice I did not heed, since I have hand brakes.  Erik and I got a kick out of it.  I only wish I'd had my camera.  Well, I'm off.

Sketch Day

Good Monday Everyone!  I stayed home today with sick kids.  They are doing much better.  In fact, JoJo felt so good that he decided to put a wash cloth and a comb in the toilet.  So, I had to fish out both items, clean the bathroom floor, and give him a bath.  At least he flushed the toilet before putting the stuff in.  That makes it just a slight bit less disgusting.

Anyway, I'm going to try and post a new sketch for you each month.  As I get more done, maybe I can up that to more often.  But, here you go!  My first original sketch.  All of the photos are 2.75 inches, except for the large one which is 6 inches.  The page size is 12x12.  Feel free to use it, and if you do you can share it as well.  If I get some scrapbooking done,  I'll try to use this sketch for you.  However, I have to finish an album, and a card order.  Oh, did I mention Erik is out of town, again?  Well, anyway...here is to a good week for everyone.

January Memory Works Express Kit

I just got this kit in the mail the other day!  I love this kit!  I can't wait to make some stuff with it.  When I do, I'll be sure to share it with you.  The thing I love about the kits is that sometimes they contain items I would never buy myself.  Then, I have this kit full of awesome paper and embellishments to use.  It helps me to "step outside the box."  Sometimes, I get stuck in the rut of blue paper, with all of the boys in my house.  Email for information to subscribe, or visit my website.

Don't forget about the Simple Stories line either.  You can find more information here.  I have already taken a few preorders.  So let me know if you need more information.

This will be a quick post today.  I'm off to a BBQ.  I went to a crop last night, so I have a few things to share, maybe.

Happy New Year!!!!

So, it's a new year...fresh with new possibilities.  I think back to 2000, a decade ago, and so much has changed.  I was 19 then, celebrating New Years on the Strip in Vegas.  This year, as usual (since kids have come along), was spent at home watching TV, playing games, and making Hot Fudge Sundaes.  In this decade, I've gotten married, graduated college, begun my career, and had three beautiful boys.  This year they will be 7, 5, and 3.  I will have a 7 year old child.  That is crazy.  I will have two kids in school.  That is crazy.

As with every new year, I set resolutions.  Most of which are not kept.  But here are mine for this year:
1.  Be a more consistent parent.
2.  Eat more healthy foods and maybe exercise.
3.  Be a better Scrapbooker and make an album about me!

I am starting an album about me because, I'm always behind the camera, like an observer.  I want to record my thoughts and feelings about things.  I will not always be 29 with small children.  So, part of me wants a small snapshot in time to remember.  So, I'm inviting all of you to start your own album about you.  This is my cover page.  I just wrote three things about myself, along with a picture of me and what I find important.  Next month, I will share another layout with you with a different topic.  If you want to email me your layouts and share them that is fine, too.

So, here is to you and your family.  I wish you all nothing but the best for this new year.
