Breast Cancer Silhouette Downloads

Hi All!  Wolfie needed to decorate a paper shirt for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I thought I would make a few cut files for you all!  They are downloadable.  If you wish to post the cuts online, please link back to me.  I will be working on some Halloween cuts.  Also, please excuse the photos...They were taken on my iPad because I am having some difficulties with my time machine.  In fact, I am THISCLOSE to throwing it out the window, into the street and backing up over it several times.  No, I am not frustrated over this AT all.  Also, don't forget, you can find these and more on My Silhouette Designs page.

How it looks...And it takes a while to cut out.  Don't be alarmed.

The Cut file...download here.
If you wished to make just a very thin design...I didn't have the patience to peel it all off.  I hope you get the idea.

Very Basic Silhouette Tips

Please note, what I know about the Silhouette Machines is very basic.  Very, very basic.  However, if your knowledge is basic or you are looking into purchasing one this post will be right up your alley.

  • Sign up for the Silhouette Blog.  They will inform you about the free shape of the week.  Yes, free shape of the week.  There are sketches and tons of projects on there.  You can also find tips for ways to use your machine.  Even if you don't have a Silhouette, I recommend doing this.  It is "scrap-lifting" after all.
  • Sign up for the subscription services.  If you do have a Silhouette, getting the subscription services is a must!  I pay $10 a month and can download up to $25 a month in shapes.  That's $15 of free items!!!  Here are the plans.  The plans roll over so I always have credits saved up and I can go on a free for all, if I so wish!
  • Go to Youtube and search Silhouette America, or just Silhouette.  You will find thousands of videos about how to use your machine.
  • Look for weekly bundles.  Every week there are bundles at the Silhouette online store.  They have tons of shapes that are theme related.  It's a great way to save money on shapes.  You will find the bundles on the main page under the "Visit the blog" tab.

So that's it for today.  I am planning on being prepared for the upcoming holiday seasons!  I really, really am.  So, I'm hoping to get some cut files completed for you all to download in the next week or so.  They will be Seasonal related.  Football, Soccer, Halloween, Fall, etc.  If you have any requests, please let me know, and I will be happy to provide them.

Five Minute Friday...She...

I realize it's Sunday...but this prompt was very hard for me.  It's She...I don't know what to say about "She"  I have no "she" in my life that makes me feel warm and fuzzy.  I mean I have my friends, but I don't have daughters.  I have boys.  Little wild ones that run around and act crazy.  I was never a girly girl.  I was always tomboyish, working since the age of five.  My mom, I love her but she's not my best friend.  That's where I feel jealous of some.   They are best friends.  But I'm not best friends with her.  There are so many words that have passed that make it impossible.  It took me about four years for me to speak to her after I moved out of her house at the age of 16.  But I couldn't cheat her out of a wedding, out of the birth of my children.  Out of being there for my kids.  Every mother deserves that, no matter the relationship.  Please, don't get me wrong.  I do love her.  It's just not the same.  I see this prompt as a "She...makes me fell happy.  She makes me...yadda yadda..."But that's not me.  So, I mulled this prompt over and over since Friday.  I thought it would be fair just to write and see where this went.  The most wise words I've heard in my life don't come from a she...they come from a he.  My father.  He is wise.  I say to my children, what he said to me.  I would not be me with out him.  The other he in my life is my husband.  He is more than anyone could ask for.  Giving, kind, smart, and many many other things.  MY GOAL IS TO BE ME.  I am not SHE, and SHe is not I.

Run Girl (12x12 Layout with cut file)

All supplies are from Studio Calico Kit.  The cut file for the background and clouds are from Silhouette.  The word "Girl" is my cut file which you can download here.  If you download, please link back to me if you post online.

For this layout, I used my number from the Dirty Girl Mud Run.  I saved it in a Ziplock bag until I was ready.  I then put it inside a page protector and sealed it before I put it in my layout.  I used glue dots to secure it, and it seems to be holding okay.  I do have more layouts to share with cut files, but I can't seem to find them in my pictures.  I may need to retake them.  So stay tuned....

Five Minute Friday

Mercy

I searched the exact definition of mercy before writing this and it is the act of forgiveness shown toward someone.  Well, I'm taking this in a different direction.  We have been in drought here for so long.  It's been years and years of dryness.  The lake was drying up.  When you live in the desert, you hope, you pray, you love rain.  We finally got Mercy from the drought that has dried up our lakes, and parched our land and crops.  The rain arrived, a sweet blessing from dryness.  The land accepting the gift.  And the rain kept falling, and falling, and falling.  Now there is flooding, roads washed away, homes damaged.  And though it's bad, I can't help but appreciate the wonderful gift...The mercy that the water has given to the land.  Isn't forgiveness worth being thankful for?  I may be retracting this post tomorrow...if the water keeps coming.  But for now, with all of the rain and damage.  I still hope there is thankfulness for the gift of water.

We went home early yesterday because of the rain.  I got to spend extra time with my family.  The boys found frogs.  We have our doors and windows open enjoying the respite from the heat.  We are enjoying the cool, the sound of the rain falling, the Mercy the desert can show you.

****Stop****

And for my friends that are out of their homes, that have damage to their homes, I do wish you all of the safety in this world.

Five Minute Friday

So I found this through Kayla Aimee's blog...I am always looking to improve my writing skills.  The idea is to write for five minutes on the prompt.  So, here goes...Please bare with me on this :)

The Prompt is Red:

Red is actually the color I am seeing right now as JoJo or Wolfie or Maddie has somehow managed to remove the Word Icon from my desktop.  And while I know how to use my Mac…I am not perfectly adept at it.  So I have no way to get the damn icons back.  Drum, Drum, Drum…that is the noise my fingers make as I sit here and try to type something meaningful about the color red.  This is my first time participating in this sort of activity.  I seem to be failing at actually talking about red.  I look around my office.  The only red thing I see is tape measure, and a red folder full of hospital bills from JoJo’s shopping cart incident that resulted in a skull fracture and subdural hematoma.  Do not allow three boys in a cart at once.  That is a true life lesson.  Now, I see mom’s in stores pushing their kids in the carts while their children are standing…Do you know how much that freaks me out?  Well, it does.  Think, think, think…I am thinking….Red, red, red, red….Red is the color of love, it’s the color of anger…Don’t you think that’s funny?  How can love and anger be associated?  I love my children but they sometimes anger me.  I love my husband, but he sometimes angers me.  Geez, I feel like a weirdo…

********Stop*******

So, there you go...The timer really did go off at that point.  Mariphone is such a genius ;)

Reason #2240...Technological Troubles...Friday Photos that make me happy

Hi there, I thought I could post a photo each Friday that makes me happy, or makes me chuckle.  Here is what Wolfie brought to my attention the other night.

Reason #2240 JoJo should not be allowed to use a technological device:  Please keep in mind I once told him to wash an old iPod...He dunked it in the sink....
Do you guys know how long 22, 952, 280 minutes are?  It's 43 years.  Do you know how many times JoJo had to have typed in an invalid password???  I don't.  More than a hundred would be my guess. He's nothing if not persistent.  That's a good quality, right?  And also, does anyone want to buy a cell phone?  It's a steal ;)  (P.S. iphone is not actually for sale)

My Silhouette Design Page

Hi there!  I just wanted to let you know that I added a page to my blog.  It is entitled "My Silhouette Designs"  I got a Silhouette earlier this year, after selling my Cricut.  The Silhouette does require a lot of learning.  To be honest, I haven't even scratched the surface of what it can do.  I love that I can cut out my own handwriting and add it to my layouts.  So, what I've done on the page is to upload the .png files of some of my layout titles.  All you have to do is click the photo or link and it will take you to Google Docs, where you can download it.  I also posted a tutorial by Nicole Samuels for how to use these files in Silhouette Studio.  All of this wouldn't be possible without her.  As I gain, more knowledge about the Silhouette, I want to try and create more designs in Photoshop for you as well.

With each file, I will link back to a post where you can find how I used the cut file in a layout or card.  (Look for this in a day or two as I have to upload some pics from my camera)

All of this is free for non commercial users of course.  Also, if you create a project with any of the files and post it online, all I ask is that you link the file back to my blog in your post.  I will do requests, within reason for those of you who are interested.  All you have to do is comment on this post, or email me at mariahashbaugh@hotmaildotcom.  That means if you have a project you're working on for a room, layout, or card I would be happy to create the files for you.  In the future, I hope to also post some ideas and tips for using your Silhouette.  I hope you guys find this helpful!  Just to be tempting here are a few sneaks...taken from Mariphone (God Love Her).

Best Friends (12x12 Layout)

All Supplies are from Studio Calico Monthly Kit, including the stamps (minus buttons and heart).  The frames came in the kit, but are Dear Lizzy.  I loved the way they looked layered.

Happy Tuesday!

Hello September

Hi, All!  I hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend!  I know I am.  I am thankful for the extra day, and lucky enough that Erik gets to stay home with us today and Monday!  So, here are some thoughts for September:

1...I just wanted to share these photo prompts for September from IHeartFaces...just incase you want to partake.  I might do so, since Mariphone is back in business with the camera.

2...Ali Edwards will be doing a Week in the Life this month.  I'm not sure the exact dates.  I thought I would spread that information for you.  I don't know if I will be doing it.  Since, I barely made it five days this summer.  And to be honest, I wasn't exactly pleased with how it turned out.  I do know, I didn't put forth much effort on my part.

3...I finished up The Book Thief for our book club.  It was an amazing, eye opening read.  I really think it's just one of those books that is a must read for humanity's sake.

4...I am going to get busy with photo shoots this month.  That means less time for scrapbooking.  I have actually been doing some.  I will share some layouts with you.

5...I am going to try and schedule some posts ahead of time.  As an avid blog reader, I've seen some bloggers who post Wordless Wednesday posts and Friday Photo Bliss.  I'm thinking of stealing borrowing those ideas.

6....It's fall garden planting time.  My garden was a huge bust this year.  It was devoured alive by horrible bugs that not so kindly laughed in my face as I attempted to murder them.  They won...at least until we burned them out of the garden with a blow torch...just kidding it was one of those weed burner things...

7...I love you blogger people.  Those of you who take time out of your day to read about mine.  Thanks.  It means a lot to me.

8...Have a beautiful, blessed Sunday, friends.
