A Week in The Life

I will be doing A Week in the Life this year starting October 27, 2014.  I know I already do Project Life, but this week I will focus on routines and things that define our family instead of weekly events.  I'll be choosing at least one photo a day that represents that day of the week for us.  We have a few people joining this event on my Scrappy Girls page.  So if you would like to join follow that link and I'll add you.  I'll try to post the pictures up on my blog as quickly as possible so you can follow along here too.  Enjoy your Monday!

Week in the Life Day 5

Today, Erik went to work.  I stayed home and worked on things around the house.  This evening, I was to go to the store, however, there was supposed to be a huge storm coming in.  It was a 100 percent chance of golf ball sized hail.  I just ran down the street to get a few things for dinner.  I took Erik's truck as I didn't want my car to be damaged by the hail.  Let me just say that meteorologists are liars.  Liars!  We didn't even get a drop of rain.  We need it so badly.  So, we just hung out in the yard, as usual.

Mazzie has been a little bad lately, she's had a setback in her potty training.  And she may or may not have started digging in the toilet for water.  She was used to having a pool at her old place.  I wish she would realize pools are a far cry from toilets.  She is doing well with her training, as far as sit, down, leave it, etc.  She is also so very sweet.  I am willing to over look the toilet debacle.  Her and Jill are such good friends.  Jill is very happy to have another dog to play with.  The boys love her so much.  Fluffy (the cat) is still having quite an adjustment to her.  I'm hoping they'll work it out soon.

Week in the Life Day 4

We spent today at the lake.  We caught a lot of fish, but let them all go because Erik didn't want to clean them.  That was free food!!!  We went home late in the evening, and we were exhausted. We got home, and fed the kids.  I forced myself to water the garden.  Erik had to go to work in the morning, so he had to wash his uniform.  We watched a little TV and went to bed.

P.S. I was posting this yesterday and a certain individual...JoJo...came in and erased it!  So, here you go for today...sorry.

Week in the Life Day 3

Day 3/Wednesday:

Erik had to go in this morning for his shift bid.  He got the same shift as last year.  He took the last spot on days, so that was good.  After that, we packed up and headed to the lake for our first trip of the summer.  It was Murphy's Law of camping, let me tell you.  Our hose to fill the water tank under the trailer was broken.  When we inserted the hose, water just sprayed all over the ground.  So, Erik had to get under the trailer and hold the hose closed with his hands.  We get to the lake, and set up the trailer.  When Erik puts up the kitchen, water starts spraying everywhere...the faucet broke off.  Erik is yelling to turn off the pump.  I'm running around screaming, "Where is the pump, where is the pump?"  Then I told myself to calm down, and suddenly I remembered where the switch was.  So, that means no water for us.  Then, I asked Erik if the toilet would still work.  He said it was on a separate pump.  Thank Goodness....or so we thought, when five minutes later JoJo announces he has to go poo.  He uses the toilet, and guess what?  It doesn't work.  So, here we are, with no water, no toilet.  It's like having a big fancy tent.  Oh, and JoJo still needed to use the restroom quite often. We got everything set up, and decided to take the boat out.  We spent the entire rest of the day out on the boat.  We came in at dusk, and made hotdogs on the fire in the dark.  We caught five fish, but Erik didn't want to clean them, so we let them go.  The boys went off to bed, and Erik and I stayed up for a bit.  When we went to bed, the wind came up, and it was FREEZING!!!  We were worried about the boat blowing out.  Erik got up and checked it at some point, and came in realizing the water had dropped a foot since we beached the boat so it was not going anywhere.  He got up early with the dogs, and I laid in bed trying to catch up on some sleep.  He said it took ten minutes for him to get the boat off the beach due to the water level dropping.  Here are some of the pictures from the day.  There were a ton and I didn't want to convert them all over to jpegs.

Week in the Life Day 2

Hi, there everyone!  Sorry, I missed two days.  Don't worry I was still taking pictures.  Erik and I decided to out to the lake for the night.  It's our first trip since last July!!!  It has been that long.  We decided to go since we probably won't be going Tiger Muskie fishing anytime soon.  We missed because poor little JoJo was sick.  He's doing much better, now, though.  I will post Day 3 and Day 4 photos together probably.

Day 2/Tuesday:

Today, was pretty much the same as yesterday.  Except that lovely menu I spent hours on was completely gone!!!  Erased.  I had to start typing it all over.  So Erik and I worked on it for a while.  I made a list for the store and for camping.  The boys went swimming.  I worked on the garden in the evening, pulling weeds and watering.

Week in the Life Day 1

Recovery/Normalcy

Those were my words for today.  It has been a hard weekend...well since last Wednesday, that JoJo was sick.  Between the new dog and JoJo I have cleaned up more poop and washed more towels than I ever have in my life.  This morning I had to take JoJo back to the doctor for a checkup.  Since he was feeling much better, I was able to do some things I needed to get done around the house.  Like wash hopefully my last load of towels for a while.  I also cleaned up a bit, caught up on some of my work, and checked some of the 350 new emails I had.  I also had to take the dogs to the vet this afternoon.  Two dogs, and three kids, by yourself is a fun time.  Jill was fine...as usual, but Mazzie pooped in the car on the way, and jumped around like a wild animal in the vet because she wanted to play with everyone...dogs and people.  We were there until 6 o clock....our appointment was at 3:45.  Thank goodness Erik came to help me after he got off work.  When we got home, we hung around outside and had dinner.  JoJo and I played on his ABC Mouse and then the kids were off to bed.  Erik and I stayed up until midnight working on the Damsite Menu.  So that was Day 1.  I didn't get a lot of pictures.  It'll be a new day tomorrow, right?  Oh and my Mariphone photos are foggy because I have cracked the back of her.

We got a Wyli's ashes back today.  They were put in a very nice urn and they gave us an paw print.  The vet staff signed the card.  It was nice.

Week in the Life Starts today!

Hi everyone!  Sorry for my absence.  JoJo was very ill.  I haven't been able to do much with him being sick.  I do believe he is finally on the mend!  Thank Goodness.

So, let's get started with A Week in the Life.  I really hope that you join me and link up to my page in the comments section.  I would love to see a peek into everyone's lives.  Week in the Life is about showing a snippet of your life.  What do you think represents your family?  As your kids get older, what do you want them to remember about your life?  Things you can focus on:

• routines
• meals
• items in your home you use often
• places you go
• people you interact with in your life on a regular basis
• your pet peeves:  traffic, kids that won't get dressed in the morning, etc.
• you can save items from the week:  movie tickets, gas receipts, or other items

How to document

I will be taking pictures of my daily life and posting them for you, and writing a short synopsis of our day.  I will be using my phone and DSLR to do this.  If you want to put your pictures in an album, then you could use the cool Sn@p System from Simple Stories.  (If you wish to order, you can follow that link.  You will have to login with your username and password.  If you don't have one, you can search me and find me in the consultant system, as I no longer have a website.) It's very much like a Project Life kit, but on a much smaller scale.

Another option is just adding the photos to an existing album.  It's really up to you.  I hope this helps, I will be posting Day 1 photos tomorrow.  

A Week in the Life

I'm really hoping you will join me for "A Week in the Life."  I will start posts on Monday, June 3, and I hope you will link back to your blog in the comments.  I've done this project for three years and I really love looking back on the photos.  I will also be putting up some downloadable files for the Silhouette.  You can use them in layouts.  We have a lot to share this next week...A new puppy, the lake, and other fun.  The kids are really glad to be spending time with Erik at home.  They asked him the other day if he was supposed to be at work, as they're not used to him being home :(  We're going to make the best of this summer.  Because summer is our time, and it always has been.  I'm really hoping to see your family's week, as I really hope you share!

Week in the Life Day 7

Saturday, April 28:

Today was a lazy, busy Saturday.  That is an oxymoron, I know.  I got up about 8 o'clock.  Erik slept in a bit later because he cannot seem to sleep at night.  Thanks graveyard schedule.  The boys were up and ready to go.  I went to the store and got groceries.  We relaxed for the rest of the day.  For dinner we had a small cajun feast...crab legs, corn on the cob and potatoes.  After dinner, we had a movie night with the kids...Puss in Boots and then Thor.  I'm not going to lie.  I may or may not have read an entire novel that day.

Week in the Life Day 6

Friday:

We all stayed home today.  I took the day off to go with Wolfie on his field trip.  It is the first time I’ve ever taken a day to go on a field trip.  Even when Wolfie was in Pre K and 4 years old, I didn’t go.  And now I look back and think, why not?  Why was work so important?  I mean I love my job, I do.  And it’s hard for a teacher to miss.  I am responsible for 21 little minds each and every day.  But I have to remember that I am responsible for three little minds and hearts too.  They are my gift; mine and Erik’s entirely, to mold and shape into productive, loving, responsible, and wonderful human beings.  We had a fun time on the field trip.  I don’t know what JoJo was expecting because he kept asking when we were going on the field trip...we were already there.  After visiting the Farm and Ranch Museum, we went to the park.  Then we went home and relaxed for the rest of the evening. Oh, and we made reservations for our vacation...on the beach...for crabbing and fishing.
